As a parent, do I have to be at every session my child goes to?

Updated over 3 months ago

You will be required to attend the very first as session as that is when our DiveThru therapists will obtain consent for your child or teen (anyone under 18 years of age) to participate in therapy.

In this session, you and the child’s therapist can discuss family involvement in future sessions. If your child is 12 years or younger, we reserve that very first session for a meeting between the therapist and the legal guardian(s) only to discuss your child’s therapy plan.

Please note: only legal guardians can provide consent. If parents are separated or divorced and have joint custody, BOTH parents will need to provide consent (via the consent forms that you were sent over email) for the child or youth to participate in therapy. If one parent has sole custody of the child, please bring guardianship documents to the first session.
